This is the meeting to decide upon the issue of West Papuan observer status to the MSG. We are to be told the Government's stand before the issue is discussed in Honiara, Post reports. Vanuatu has previously championed the West Papuan cause, reconciling the freedom movements here last year as the United Liberation Movement of West Papua (ULMWP) under an initiative of the Malvatumauri and former PM Natuman. However, the new Prime Minister had not seen the ULMWP Ambassador to the MSG Secretariat, Amatus Douw, before the Ambassador proceeded to Honiara yesterday.
